The fourth event in a series of training workshops held by Volunteer House Vietnam for volunteers in Hanoi took place on the evening of December 5th.
“Overcome the fear” was the theme of this talk show. Unlike other previous training workshops with the aim of equipping the youth for particular skills in specific states of affairs, this talk show had a tendency to contemplation and sharing.
“Overcome the fear” is a subject that many young people are interested in. It is also the topic that many psychologists and authors in psychology have mentioned countless times as fear is one of the main feelings which rules severely over the actions and contribute to our personalities. Both actions and personalities constitute our destiny.
In the talk show, Mr. Ngo Toan outlined “a fear tower” and classified the fear according to five different aspects. Recognizing the type of our fear is very important as we have to recognize it when we face our fears. According to Dale Carnegie, author of How to win friends and influence people, concluded that the only way to overcome the fear is to face it.
Mr. Ngo Toan also pointed out that the fear is the sensation associated with our physical and we usually mistake the fear for concern. Concern is only related to the mental state. Most of the feeling we are named as the fear, in fact, are only the concern. When we are in panic stations, our bodies are strained and our mind is confused. To overcome the fear, let’s solve it step by step: staying loose and giving relaxation to our minds.
One of the most effective ways of staying loose when we are scared is to catch our breaths. When we are afraid, our breaths change considerably and to balance it again, let our breaths return to normal state. Thereby, our minds are self-possessed and get balance to cope with our fear to deal with them.
However this talk show did not come to any specific situations of the fear, Mr. Ngo Toan had the will to continue this topic in the following talk show. It can be about “The fear in love”.
“Acknowledge the feeling is not easy at all as it is intercepted by contradiction to the habit of awareness when we used to get accustomed to vagueness and orientation. The success of this talk show is the majority of our members come to know that fear is slightly different from what they’d thought before and divergent from concern” Mr. Ngo Toan left a comment after this talk, “After the event, many people gave me impressive feedbacks, and even told me their perceptions in person. I’d never thought that my talk may go deep into their soul”
Mr. Ngo Toan, working in psychotherapy, is one of the most prestigious experts in Vietnam currently. He is also a familiar lecturer with many forums, talk shows and interviews.
This is the fourth training workshop held by Volunteer House Vietnam for volunteers in Hanoi. All three previous sessions were given by Mr. Alex Tran about orientation and job seeking skills.
