Pride and respect the behind-the-scene teachers in VHV.
Teachers are said to be as the boatmen. Each of them is compared as an industrious ferryman who has been ferrying the number of students’ generation to the port of the future. These ferries have a lot of knowledge, teachers’ love, their enthusiasm and effort. The jubilant atmosphere of the Vietnamese teachers’ day is full of the S- shaped country when November comes. To celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day spreads all over the S- shaped country. This is the chance for the society to honor the teachership which is the noblest profession and honor the teachers who undertake the glorious teaching–mission.
We also respect and honor our conscientious teachers in VHV. Although they are non-certified teachers who work in different companies or study at various universities, they are here with VHV to teach free English to poor children.
Volunteer English teachers in VHV
Despite the fact that each member of VHV has their own work, they, our teachers, still volunteer to come to VHV’s free English classes conscientiously. They spend their time to help the poor children. They always hope their students, who are unable to afford to study English in the language centers; will be more self-confident and more interested in English throughout their lessons. With that goal in mind, VHV’s teachers are trying to provide English classes to poor students as much as possible. Students go to class to enjoy the fun of studying and speaking English so that they become more interested in English and better at speaking English.
“The youth is unique, why not?” Tra Mi, the leader of teaching group said when she was asked about the reason and motivation for being an English volunteer teacher. “When going to the class I can see the bright smiles, spontaneous face of the students, which make me happy and appease all the difficulties and tiredness in my daily work. Especially, when I worked with them, I saw their difficult life. Each student has different situation. They are many times more piteous than me. I am still young, I have to try my best to live usefully and spend my whole time on doing the meaningful work. Thus, being a volunteer English teacher helps me carry out all of those.”

Our enthusiastic teachers who are giving a hand to make the unfortunate children’s dream come true. They become volunteer teachers because of simple reasons. For example, Mr. Cường who is a final- year student at Foreign Trade University and the teacher in District 5 English class said: “I was lucky to study English with a well- qualified teacher so I want to share my knowledge with the children. I want that the children studying English in VHV will be fond of English and have a better basis of learning English. Thinking that they can achieve a better life makes me have motivation to go to class”
The children were very eager to study English with VHV teachers.
Sometimes the reason for teaching English freely is very simple. “Firstly I joined VHV purely as I wanted to teach the children English, especially the unfortunate ones. I was born in a rural province. I have realized how important English is and there are wide gaps in teaching English in our education since I entered the university. Therefore I help those children not only consider English as a subject at school but also have new perspective about English and really enjoy it. “You will not lose anything without English but you can have many more things if you know English”. Hoang Ha, a member of Communication group and Teaching group shared.
“It is great experienced to meet these students, study and play with them. Moreover I can help them practice English to become the wonderful owners of Vietnam one day. I am very appreciated to be a member of VHV. Of course I have indulged in teaching and I will go on teaching in other countries.” Josh, a volunteer from England eagerly said.

What the wonderful teachers! They have been silently sacrificing to contribute to the “sailing” work and help the unfortunate children have much more knowledge in their life. “ If knowledge is a wide world, the teachers will take us there”
Somehow their gifts for the children will be with them forever. Their love and enthusiasm will inspire all the people surrounding to greater efforts, then the children will follow their example, spread out and do the same marvelous things.
The forest is always green because each tree has its own small part such as seeds which are spreading out to other places by wind, not because of keeping their own sap. VHV’s teachers, who are considered as these beloved trees, are growing the nice seeds for the children with their enthusiasm and love.
We would like to express our gratitude to the teachers in VHV who are enthusiastically teaching the children how to become decent citizens with their heart and their mind to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers’ Day.
